2023 All-Anderson/Pickens High School Baseball Teams, Player of the Year

The 2023 high school baseball season in Anderson and Pickens counties was a memorable one, with many talented players taking the field. The following players were named to the All-Anderson/Pickens teams, and Lane McGaha of Belton-Honea Path was named Player of the Year.

First Team

  • Pitchers: Lane McGaha (Belton-Honea Path), Will Wilson (Westside), Chase Williams (Northwestern), Blake Jones (Westside), Jaxon Garvin (Eastside)
  • Catchers: Cole Dickey (Wren), Jackson White (Westside)
  • Infielders: Hunter Johnson (Westside), Chase Hill (Belton-Honea Path), Nick Jones (Westside), Josh Jones (Belton-Honea Path), Will Montgomery (Wren), Jayden Jenkins (Eastside)
  • Outfielders: Ty Gilbert (Belton-Honea Path), Mason Miller (Wren), Jalen Jones (Eastside)
  • Utility: Luke Johnson (Wren)

Second Team

  • Pitchers: Nick Allen (Trinity), Cole Thompson (Westside), Jayden Williams (Walhalla), Hayden Brown (Eastside), Cooper Miller (Wren)
  • Catchers: Ethan Smith (Trinity), Hunter Williams (Belton-Honea Path)
  • Infielders: Mason Smith (Trinity), Ethan Wilson (Westside), Hunter Carter (Wren), Noah Jones (Belton-Honea Path), Will Jones (Eastside)
  • Outfielders: Ethan Cribb (Trinity), Brycen Jones (Belton-Honea Path), Landon Jones (Wren)
  • Utility: Will Johnson (Wren)

Player of the Year: Lane McGaha, Belton-Honea Path

McGaha, a senior, was a dominant force on the mound for the Bears this season. He went 10-1 with a 0.83 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched. He also hit .375 with 10 doubles, 6 home runs, and 28 RBIs.

McGaha is the first player from Belton-Honea Path to be named Player of the Year since 2018. He is committed to play college baseball at Clemson University.
