Abby Anderson Returns To Pitt As Director Of Women’s Basketball Operations

PITTSBURGH – Pitt women’s basketball head coach Tory Verdi announced on Tuesday that Abby Anderson has joined his staff as director of basketball operations. Anderson will assist Verdi with overall logistics for the program along with planning and executing all team travel and activities.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Abby back to Pitt,” Verdi said. “She has a wealth of experience in the women’s basketball world and she will be a valuable asset to our staff. She is a hard worker and she is passionate about Pitt basketball.”

Anderson joins the Panthers after spending the past season as the assistant director of recruiting operations at Pitt. Prior to that, she was the head basketball coach at Western Wayne High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a retail salesworker at DICK’S Sporting Goods and as an intern at Lutz and Carr CPAs, LLP.

Anderson is a graduate of the University of Scranton, where she played basketball for four seasons. She was a two-time All-NEC selection and she was named the NEC Player of the Year in 2019. She finished her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder.

“I’m excited to be back at Pitt,” Anderson said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Verdi and the rest of the staff. I’m looking forward to helping the Panthers achieve their goals.”
