SMU Men's Basketball Signs Two Standouts for 2023-2024 Season
Dallas, TX (July 10, 2023) – SMU Men's Basketball head coach Tim Jankovich announced today that the program has signed two standouts for the 2023-2024 season.
The two signees are:
- Jayden Moore, a 6-foot-6 guard from Garland, Texas. Moore is a consensus top-50 recruit in the 2023 class. He is a three-time state champion at Lakeview Centennial High School.
- David Jenkins Jr., a 6-foot-2 guard from Little Rock, Arkansas. Jenkins is a four-star recruit in the 2023 class. He is a two-time state champion at Parkview High School.
Moore and Jenkins are both expected to make an immediate impact for SMU. They are both talented scorers who can also create for others. They will be a major part of the Mustangs' quest to return to the NCAA Tournament in 2023-2024.
"We are excited to welcome Jayden and David to the SMU family," said Jankovich. "They are both talented players who have the potential to be great contributors for us. We are looking forward to seeing what they can do on the court."
Moore is a versatile scorer who can shoot from the perimeter and create off the dribble. He is also a good defender who is capable of guarding multiple positions. Jenkins is a knockdown shooter who can also create for others. He is a proven winner who has led his teams to a lot of success in high school.
The addition of Moore and Jenkins gives SMU a talented young core that is poised to make some noise in the American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs are coming off a 23-win season in 2022-2023, and they are looking to build on that success in the upcoming season.
