Southridge High senior Jillian Hui wins Class 3A girls golf title
Hui, who will compete next year with the Boise State University women's golf team, is the first Southridge golfer to win a state title. She is also the first golfer from the Tri-Cities to win a state title since Richland High's Kevin Stine in 1996.
Southridge High senior Jillian Hui shot rounds of 70 and 73, for a two-round total of 143, to win the Class 3A girls state golf tournament on Wednesday at the Columbia Intercollegiate Golf Course in Richland.
Hui, who will compete next year with the Boise State University women's golf team, is the first Southridge golfer to win a state title. She is also the first golfer from the Tri-Cities to win a state title since Richland High's Kevin Stine in 1996.
Hui's victory was a dominant performance. She led the field by six strokes after the first round and never looked back. She carded four birdies in the second round and never made a bogey.
"I'm really excited," Hui said after the tournament. "I've been working really hard all year and it's finally paid off."
Hui's victory is a major accomplishment for her and for Southridge High School. She is a role model for young golfers in the Tri-Cities and her win will inspire them to work hard and achieve their goals.
