Top-50 California Prospect Sire Gaines Commits to the Sun Devils
Perris, CA - Sire Gaines, a top-50 California prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, has committed to play football at Arizona State University.
Gaines is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from Perris (CA) High School. He is ranked as the No. 47 overall prospect in California and the No. 18 linebacker in the country by 247Sports.
Gaines is a versatile linebacker who can play both inside and outside. He is known for his athleticism, speed, and tackling ability. He also has good instincts and is a sure tackler.
Gaines had offers from several other schools, including USC, UCLA, and Oregon. However, he chose ASU because he felt it was the best fit for him.
"I chose ASU because I felt like it was the best place for me to develop as a player and as a person," Gaines said. "I love the coaching staff and I'm excited to be a part of the Sun Devil family."
Gaines' commitment is a big win for ASU. He is a talented player who will add depth to the Sun Devils' defense. He is also a good fit for the culture that head coach Herm Edwards is trying to build at ASU.
"Sire is a great addition to our program," Edwards said. "He's a talented player who has a lot of potential. He's also a great kid who will fit in well with our culture."
Gaines is the latest in a string of high-profile recruits to commit to ASU in recent years. The Sun Devils have also landed commitments from quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, and defensive lineman D.J. Davidson.
With Gaines' commitment, ASU has a strong foundation for the future. The Sun Devils are poised to be a contender in the Pac-12 in the years to come.
