Tyrin Lawrence to Return to Vanderbilt Basketball from Transfer Portal
Vanderbilt junior guard Tyrin Lawrence has announced that he will return to the Commodores for the 2023-24 season. Lawrence entered the transfer portal in May, but he ultimately decided to stay with Vanderbilt after meeting with head coach Jerry Stackhouse and the rest of the coaching staff.
Lawrence was a key contributor for the Commodores last season, averaging 12.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He was also one of the team's top three-point shooters, making 38.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Lawrence's return is a major boost for Vanderbilt, which is coming off a disappointing 13-19 season. The Commodores are hoping to build on last season's momentum and make a run at the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24.
In a statement, Lawrence said that he is excited to return to Vanderbilt and help the team improve. He also thanked the coaching staff and his teammates for their support during his decision-making process.
"I'm excited to be back at Vanderbilt," Lawrence said. "I feel like I have unfinished business here. I want to help this team win and make a run at the NCAA Tournament."
Lawrence's return is a major win for Stackhouse and the Commodores. He is a talented player who can score, rebound, and distribute the ball. He will be a key part of Vanderbilt's lineup next season.
