Webster Parish coaches got a quick look at what's to come in the fall with the short window of spring practices and scrimmages. Overall, coaches were pleased with their teams' progress, but there is still work to be done before the season starts.
"I'm pleased with the way we've progressed," said Barbe head coach Matt Fontenot. "We've got a lot of young guys, but they're learning and getting better every day."
Many coaches were pleased with their teams' offensive play during spring practice.
"We've got a lot of weapons on offense," said Calvary head coach Josh Duplechin. "We just need to get them all clicking together."
Defensively, coaches were focused on improving their teams' speed and tackling ability.
"We need to get faster and be more physical," said Logansport head coach Chad Mahaffey. "We've got some good athletes, but we need to get them to play faster."
Overall, coaches were pleased with their teams' progress during spring practice. However, they know there is still work to be done before the season starts.
"We're still a long way from being ready for the fall," said Fontenot. "But we're headed in the right direction."
